About the speakers:
Jeff Amerine (Arkansas) Permjot Valia (Nova Scotia); Angel funding
Between them, Jeff and Permjot have invested in over 100 startups around the world. In this quick talk, they explain what they look for so the audience is clear what they have to do to raise an Angel round.
Patrick Hankinson/ Stefanie Corbett: Seed funding
Entrepreneurs who have successfully raised an angel round will then need to raise a pre-seed/ seed round. Audience members will hear from Patrick from Concrete Ventures about what they look for and how they invest in companies. These are two very active funds across the region investing up to $1m in a company.
Fergus Dyer-Smith
Fergus is the founder and CEO of Wooshii.com the worlds largest independent video-making platform. The company, based in London, recently raised £3.6m. Fergus will talk through the journey he went through to raise this money and help the audience prepare for the same path.
Mark Macleod
The founder and principal of Sure Path Capital, Mark is probably the go-to person for companies raising serious money ($10m +) for a SAAS based business model. He was the CFO at Shopify, Freshbooks, One of the founders of Real Ventures and now runs Sure Path. Mark will explain what it takes for companies to be taken seriously when they are looking to raise in excess of $10m.
