Cradle Technology Design is working towards developing a consumer product that will allow users to be able to collect and track valuable data from urine. The device in development is aimed at improving the ability to catch and analyse urine in an at-home setting as an add-on to existing home toilets. These results will allow users to create a baseline for their health, and track changes as a warning for potential health issues. The device would be able to flag for kidney disorder, liver disease, diabetes, or UTI.

As the Director of Business Development & Integration for Innovation PEI, the lead economic development for the government of PEI, Shane and his team of Business Development Officers is responsible for the coordination and delivery of information and assistance to new and existing local businesses in Prince Edward Island. The group provides counseling, financial assistance, business guidance; entrepreneur education and professional development to assist businesses with start up, expansion and diversification.
Shane MacDougall is a life-long resident of PEI working his way through a number of Community Economic Development organizations before joining Innovation PEI as the Director of Business Development in 2013. He has spent over 20 years working in the trenches with small business, and various government and industry stakeholders, to develop capacity in the rural regions of PEI.
Shane received his BBA from the University of PEI and a Diploma in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo.
Alex MacBeath received his B.Sc. from UPEI and his MBA from Dalhousie University. A member of the Canadian, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island Institutes of Chartered Accountants, he received his CA designation in 1979 and was awarded his FCA in 2003. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and holds his ICD.D designation through the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. He has completed executive education programs at Harvard Business School, Oxford University, and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Mr. MacBeath was with Grant Thornton LLP for 35 years, 26 of those as a partner. He was the CEO and Executive Partner of Grant Thornton LLP from 2001-08. From 2008 until his retirement in 2012, his title was Global Leader, Markets, and Regional Leader, Asia Pacific at Grant Thornton International, based in London, UK. He has extensive experience in business strategy, risk management, national and international markets, and managing change in large and complex organizations.
Mr. MacBeath has been an elected executive member of both the Grant Thornton International and Grant Thornton Canada Boards. He has been on the boards of many not-for-profit organizations, and also had extensive involvement with the boards of many for-profit companies as an accountant and as the CEO of a public accounting firm.

Chris Mathis has dedicated his engineering career to fostering the global commercialization of technology from Atlantic Canada.
His entrepreneurial “teeth-cutting” came from founding and operating Mathis Instruments Ltd. to commercialize his wife's, Dr. Nancy Mathis, Ph.D. research at UNB. The resulting products and company were awarded numerous distinctions including Profits Magazines’ Top 50, BDC’s Young Entrepreneurs of the Year (N.B., 1997) and received an International R&D 100 Award (1999). As inventor of the technology, Dr. Nancy Mathis was later recognized with a Manning Innovation Award, the highest innovation award distinction in Canada.
Mr. Mathis' technical and entrepreneurial experience combined with four years of commercializing technologies and driving industry engagement at UNB’s Office of Research Services, provided him with a broad spectrum of education and firsthand experience in supporting and developing commercial innovations.
