The evolution of the computer in our work and personal lives results in circumstances that increase the risk of injury and illness. Many will notice that their computer use creates aches and pains which can eventually lead to significant impairment. For the self-employed, any reduced capacity could have a significant business impact.
This workshop will review general ergonomic principles which serve to reduce the risk of injury. Specific attention will be given to cost-effective solutions for those without the ability to invest in expensive equipment.

About the presenter:
Carrie is a Registered Kinesiologist with a B.Sc in Human Kinetics, a Diploma in Athletic Therapy and a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management.
She has over 20 years experience in Disability Management roles, the majority of that time spent supporting Rehabilitation and Return to Work of individuals in receipt of Short and Long Term Disability and Workers Compensation. This has allowed her to see the prominence of poor ergonomic practices and their contribution to injury and duration of associated absences. She spent 8 years supporting large corporations by conducting ergonomic assessments and addressing work-related stressors that were contributing to a medical leave of absence.
Studies in Human Resource Management and Occupational Health and Safety has helped her to understand the broader impact of employee health and safety and its potential impact on employee engagement and retention.
She is passionate about helping keep employees safe and healthy.
