Volta x Startup Zone: Pitch Series (Session #2: The Art of Storytelling)
November 12 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Over the course of three sessions, learn about how to clearly communicate and pitch your company to an audience.
Permjot Valia will lead three individual workshops to teach you how to effectively communicate your business idea. You can attend the sessions that are of most interest or attend all three; it’s up to you!
The Sessions Include:
Session One – Language: November 5, 10am via Zoom
In this 40-minute workshop, Permjot Valia will take participants through the basic principles on the use of language. This is something we take for granted and rarely think about, and yet is the building blocks of all communication. We can’t convey a message or learn to pitch before we really start to think about language and how language can be used to powerfully convey ideas.
Session Two – The Art of Storytelling: November 12, 10am via Zoom
The most effective form of communications is to tell a compelling story. We remember stories. At the centre of most memory tricks is the ability to create stories around the items you have to remember. Stories stay with us. For managers and leaders, we need to create stories around our products and around our company. In this session, we will look at the art of Storytelling through the prism of the best storyteller in the 21st Century – Pixar. We look at what Pixar can teach us about effective storytelling.
Session Three – How to Pitch: November 19, 10am via Zoom
Permjot Valia is a world-renowned pitch coach, having trained teams around the world, including at Harvard Medical School. Teams that Permjot has coached have gone on to obtain more than $20-million in financing. In this session, Permjot will cover how to construct a great pitch and take it from an average presentation. He will share best practices through his experiences. Come prepared to ask questions!
