Crystal has a diverse background in science and business accumulated in almost 20 years working in both the private and public sectors. She started her career as a research biologist in the fields of immunology and molecular biology in the aquaculture and agriculture industries.
Crystal transitioned from research to management in the public service working as an Operations Analyst for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency National Operations and as the Senior Consultant with a PEI based accounting and management consulting firm MacPherson Roche Smith & Associates.
As the President and CEO of ViTRAK, Crystal has attracted the investment funds to bring this concept technology through into commercialization with its first five installs complete since the product’s launch in September of 2015. The Stepscan technology is patented and recognized by both the FDA and Health Canada as a Class I medical device and ViTRAK is a registered medical device company.
Crystal has a B.Sc. degree from the University of New Brunswick; a M.Sc. from the Atlantic Veterinary College, UPEI; and an MBA from the University of Guelph. Crystal is passionate about the future promise that entrepreneurship holds for the growth of the Atlantic Canadian provinces in the upcoming years. She is a member of the Order of the Wallace McCain Institute; an Atlantic Canadian based entrepreneurship society and is currently the President of the Innovation and Technology Association of PEI.
