Small Business Week is a national celebration of Canadian entrepreneurs and their contribution to the Canadian economy. In PEI especially, small businesses are the backbone of our economy. According to the PEI Business Federation, almost 90% of PEI businesses are SMB’s (small or medium-sized businesses, fewer than 20 employees). They also state that SMB’s produce nearly half of our GDP, and employ around 75% of our workforce.

Startup Zone is one of the few tech-based incubators that also supports SMBs. Within our community, we have SMBs, tech startups, and tech startups helping SMBs! This week, we are focusing on the latter, and showing how Startup Zone companies have been bringing tech solutions to small businesses, right here in PEI.

Image features Chelsey Lake (Co-Founder of GetBooking, a software company focused on bringing user-friendly scheduling/booking software to small businesses), Nick Cameron (Founder of TopServe, a tech company helping local restaurants offer contactless dine-in, takeout, and delivery), Ashe Green (Founder of Empower PEI, a revolutionary digital networking forum for local business owners), and Tracey Gairns Brioux (Founder of Reset Breathe, an online fitness community focused on empowering communities to lead physically and mentally healthier lifestyles).

This week we will be highlight one of these companies each day. We will be sharing a little bit about them and their businesses’ on our social media, and they will each be taking turns “taking over” our Instagram stories! Their Instagram takeovers are meant to give us a glimpse into a day in the life of their businesses.

Follow along with our companies this week on our Instagram story’s!
