Blooming House
Our nonprofit story is fairly unique, as we got our start at Startup Weekend in January 2018. We have come so far since then and we look forward to sharing that story. Blooming House Women’s Shelter Inc. is a registered charity, nonprofit organization whose primary goal is to provide safe overnight shelter for women in the Charlottetown area. This shelter serves as a low-barrier, harm-reduction, safe space. We are open 8pm-8am – 12 hours a night – 7 nights a week. Before Blooming House opened its doors in January 2019, there had been a 7-year service gap for women in Charlottetown who are left unexpectedly without a place to stay for the night. The lack of a safe place to stay can put women in vulnerable and dangerous situations. Blooming House is now a fully operational women’s shelter and we hope to continue and expand our services in the years to come. We are so thankful to be able to provide this service in our community.
